ABE and upgrading questions

An ABE assessment or placement is a free test that shows how strong your Math or English skills are. It’s different from the Accuplacer test and doesn’t take the place of a class.

These tests help you find the right starting level for your classes. Taking the assessment/placement won’t stop you from joining ABE programs or beginning your courses. You won’t get a grade. Your results just help us suggest the class that’s the best fit for you.

If you have any questions, contact our ACP Student Success Advisors. If you’re ready to book you assessment, call 250.740.6425.

There are a number of ways to prepare for your Adult Basic Education (ABE) assessment/placement:

The GED credential is no longer available in BC. Successfully completing the LPI allows you to enter a university of trades program, but it cannot be used towards your BC Adult Graduation Diploma.

Your instructors and the ACP Student Success Advisors may have suggestions for you.

You can also access the Volunteer Tutor Program (VTP) which will match you with a free tutor.

Depending on what help you need, you may also want to check our Student Support Services page for other options.

Check out what courses we are offering online using the Online Schedule here. You can also contact our ACP Student Success Advisors about taking online courses.

If you live near Duncan, you may also want to check out the ABE Timetable for the Cowichan campus to see what courses they have available.
